Ian's already said what happened to them: 'They
changed their name to JET and just kinda fizzled
out.'

Spark TV is the name of our (Uni of Lincoln, Hull
Campus) new TV channel. We're broadcasting through
the BBCi's KIT set-top box outlet. Allegedly, this
business of the BBC helping a university set-up
a TV channel is some sort of 'European first.' I
have my reservations about this, but they're not
really for internet chit-chat.

Anyway, we're about a couple of weeks away from
launch. I'm head of the Showcase section, which
will primarily launch with pre-produced student
content, but will go on to make documentaries
and other stuff (mini docos on ertswhile Hull
bands like Rich Rags, for example).

Our Entertainment section has started filming gigs
at places like The Piper, but if I get time, I'll
take it upon myself to drag a crew down to the
Welly and shoot the pending LA Guns gig, if we're
allowed.

There's currently about 10,000 KIT boxes scattered
around Hull, with the Beeb (allegedly) giving away
another 10,000 in a few weeks.

Part of this project is also about revitalizing
KIT themselves, who were in dire straits a few
months ago.

Darren,
Sorry i havent been in touch recently but its been a mental couple of weeks leading up to the big gig tomorrow night!
I havent been able to get in touch with Phil about shooting the show and as they are coming straight from Italy its going to be difficult to co-ordinate any kind of interview.
I hope you can still make the show and im sure we can do something in the future.
In related news I have booked Hanoi Rocks for 1st of Feb 05 and im in discussion to get a couple of other acts but cant say anymore than that at the mo.
I also have a Romeo and juliets classic rock night reunion called, incredibly enough, ROCK REUNION and the inaugural night will take place on 10th Dec at the welly with the best in classic rock/metal/glam/punk and rock n roll with special guests and giveaways!! This will be every month so dig out yer gladrags and prepare for the return of ROWDY REBELLIOUS ROCK N ROLL IN HULL.. at last....praise the lord!!
Hope you enjoy the show!

Eight or so hours later...

Adam Bomb's fire and firework antics were great!
That lighter fuel business must have hurt?

It was good to meet Ian. Like I said to Adam - it'll
be great if we can get some Spark-cams down to the
December Adelphi gig.

LA Guns rocked the house. Tonight was my house-/
classmate's first ever gig. I said to him at the
end: 'So... does this make you want to grow your
hair, wear some eyeliner and form a band? And
he replied: 'Yeh, yeh, yeh, yeh! They were awesome!
If I can get my parents to mail me my guitar, will
you teach me some chords?' etc., etc.

Phil looked a little red-wined by the end of
things, and the bass was a little low in the
mix, but it was fun seeing Adam (Hamilton)
signing Joey C. Jones CDs (didn't I just sell
that CD thru Hostboard?).

Overall, though, ace night!

Over the past few months, various locals have
powdered me with how 'important' Romeos has
been in their formative years - last Friday's
Kenny Thomas extravaganza was amazing, apparently.

It would be great if the Spark Entertainment
guys and whatever you've got planned can forge
some sort of connection - but privately, of
course, not here.

D.

PS. A couple of us are cruising down to the
Guns/Bomb gig tonight.

Lightbulb

As im currently sorting out junk to move house abroad, I have just come across a box of RR promo 12" singles featuring Generation Bubblegum Hell,
Good Morning Babylon and another track off the album but can't remember what the third cut was.
They are un played white label vinyls that were pressed up before the album as DJ promos.
if anyone would like one, send me an e-mail off the messageboard and i will try to sort it out. not sure how many i have . maybe 10 copies.

Wow!! What a night! Apart from a few behind scenes incidents everything went off with a big bang baby!! Adam was his usual self wether support or headline this guy knows how to put on a show (i implore anyone to come see him on his acoustic tour 14th dec adelphi hull)
La Guns rocked and Phil was his usual cocky self with a neat line in patter and everyone went home very happy and very rocked!
Next big gig is Hanoi at the Welly in Feb.
Thanks to all that came and for all the messages of support!
Cheers,
IAn
